What you can expect
Experience the excitement of a hot air balloon flight drifting over the Belubula Valley near Orange in New South Wales. Nothing compares to the thrill of taking off and soaring high above the lush landscape at sunrise. Rising before dawn, you'll head to the launch site to prepare for take off. If you're up for it you can opt to join the crew in unpacking and preparing the balloon for flight, which is a spectacle in itself. After an exciting launch, you'll drift with the wind silently over the beautiful farmlands and valleys of the Central West of NSW. All part of the excitement is the fact that you never know exactly where you're going to end up as you can't steer balloons; to manoeuvre the balloon your pilot ascends or descends in altitude, catching different wind currents. After landing you can choose to help the crew pack the balloon away, which is a bit like packing up a 100ft tall sleeping bag! To top off the morning you'll celebrate with your host “Tommy” at the exquisite Montrose House, where you will indulge in a hearty cooked breakfast and Toms Waterhole bubbly, complete with local produce, wines and espresso coffee. It's the perfect way to complete your unforgettable hot air ballooning adventure.

Seasons
- Hot air ballooning is a weather dependent activity – we can only safely fly in calm light winds normally below 15 km. Any flight may be cancelled due to the wrong weather conditions but this is normally done the night before when you phone for confirmation. If the experience provider cancels due to safety reasons relating to the weather then they will rebook you to another date that suits you
Time
- Meeting time is approximately half an hour before sunrise. The exact meeting time will be advised during the weather check on the afternoon prior to your flight. Being punctual on the morning of your flight is important
Duration
- Allow three to six hours for the entire hot air ballooning experience, including approximately 45 minutes to one hour flying time
Departure Location
- Take the Cargo Road for 50 minutes from Orange, or Canowindra Road for 20 minutes from Cowra . You will be advised at the time of booking of departure times as they change throughout the year. We normally meet at Montrose House in Gaskill St Canowindra
What To Bring
- Casual outdoor clothes, preferably not white
- Avoid overdressing, it's no colder in the balloon than it is on the ground
- Sturdy flat-heeled shoes
- Cap, sunglasses and sunscreen
- Camera
Additional Information
- Maximum weight is 120kg. Passengers over 120kg may fly with a surcharge
- You must be able to stand up for the duration of the flight - approximately 45 minutes to an hour
- Please advise if you have any medical conditions
- If you have any special dietary requirements for breakfast, please ensure you have noted this on the booking form
- Anyone who is pregnant cannot participate
- This experience takes place at sunrise - the exact time of your flight will vary based upon the time of year and will be sent to you upon booking
- This price is for one person, and there will be others in the balloon basket with you
- There are minimum numbers required for this balloon flight, and the operator requires five other people on the flight to be able to launch
- If weather proves unsuitable, your flight will be rescheduled for another day
- Please contact the supplier the day before the flight by 12pm to check the status of your flight
Terms And Conditions
- There are a minimum of four and a maximum of sixteen people in the basket per day
- Passengers weighing over 120kgs may need to pay a surcharge
- Women over 12 weeks pregnant can not participate
- You need to be able to climb into the basket and stand for up to 1 hour
- Please advise if you have had recent surgery and also any special dietary requirements.
Cancellation Policy
- Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
