What you can expect
Learn to drive your Four Wheel Drive vehicle off-road! This full day course is designed to show you the features of your 4WD and to enable you to experience driving your vehicle off-road in a safe environment.
If you are new to 4WD, or have recently purchased a new four wheel drive vehicle, then the Introduction To Four Wheel Driving Course is for you. Take part in our Introduction To Four Wheel Drive Course, held at our specially designed off road track in Mt Cotton, Queensland.
On this course we will cover a range of subjects including:
The correct way to drive over obstacles; How to negotiate steep hills; The features of your vehicle; And much more! This course is designed in an informal and safe environment where you can get to know how to get the very best from your vehicle and from yourself. Discover new skills and prepare to explore the continent in your Four Wheel Drive with safety and confidence!
We consider the environment and you will be learning from the only Four Wheel Drive Instructor in Australasia who holds the prestigious Master Tread Trainer certification from Tread Lightly, and who is certified by the International Four Wheel Drive Trainers Association.

Departure Location
- Training takes place with XDrive located at the Mt Cotton Driver Training Centre, 1753 Mt Cotton Road, Cornubia.
What To Bring
- BYO 4WD vehicle, fully fuelled up
- Solid footwear that is suitable for muddy terrain
- Dress for the weather on the day (this course goes ahead in most conditions)
- Any recovery gear you may have
- BYO food and drink (no BBQ’s allowed)
- This experience is not suitable for spectators
Terms And Conditions
- All training sessions are designed for people of all ages
- Participants must be 18 years and over and must have a P-plate licence or above
- Fitness level is not important and experience is not required
- Participants must be able to walk to participate
- This experience runs in all weather conditions - including wet weather.
Cancellation Policy
- Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Great 4WD course
I learned so much about my car and faced my fears of going off-road. It was an amazing experience.
A valuable and enjoyable experience
This course gave me the confidence to develop 4WD skills instead of abandoning activities and locations where 4WDs are needed. Stephen provided clear instruction and guidance relative to my needs and my vehicle. I was able to navigate terrain I previously would not have considered attempting and gained a greater understanding of my vehicles capabilities. I still have my training wheels on and some apprehension yet am also eager to push forward and gain skills and competence. Highly recommended.
