What you can expect
Take your driving skills to the next level with this level one defensive driving course at the closest driver training venue to Brisbane. The course provides post license driver training to improve awareness, skill levels and attitudes so that you can minimise any potential risks and dangers you may face as a driver.
Your course involves a mixture of theoretical and practical driving sessions conducted at normal road speeds in your own vehicle. It's suitable for young drivers (L Platers must bring a licensed driver) right up to the more experienced drivers that just need to hone their skills.
A lecture session will take you through what "defensive" driving is all about and provide a vital evaluation of driver attitude and an awareness of the inherent dangers of driving on the road. Defensive techniques, driver attitude and vision will be covered together with correct use of modern safety features.
An explanation of the correct braking techniques will be covered before being put to the test in a practical demonstration. Participants will then be subjected to potential emergency braking situations on a variety of wet surfaces.
Following a break for lunch another lecture session will cover tyres, vehicle dynamics and skid control. For the afternoon a combination of exercises will include vehicle balance and smoothness, corner lines and basic skid control. A final short lecture will recap the day and re-assess the driver’s attitude before certificates and course notes are handed out as recognition of having completed the day.

Operating Hours
- Arrive at 8.45am sharp for an 9am session and finish around 3.45pm. Late arrivals will miss course structure and requirements.

What To Bring
- Your current driver’s licence
- Learner drivers must bring a licensed driver
- Your vehicle with a full tank of fuel, optimal tyre pressures, water and oil levels
- Comfortable casual clothing according to the weather
- Footwear that has a thin sole eg. joggers. Bulky shoes, high heels or climbing boots are not optimal driving shoes
- It is a good idea to bring along a hat, sunscreen and the Aerogard if it is hot, or an umbrella if it’s raining
- Lunch
- Do not bring family or friends as spectators are not permitted
Additional Information
- For your safety race experiences may be delayed or cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. If cancelled, participants will be rescheduled to another suitable date. You should check with the supplier to confirm the status of the day before you set out
- Tyre Pressures: Passenger type vehicles (sedans, station wagons, utes etc) 38 psi (260kpa) in front and rear tyres. Four-wheel-drives follow manufacturer’s recommendations
- Please remove loose items and secure loads before coming to the course. Any over-consumption of alcohol the night before a driving course will not allow you to participate in any scheduled driving activity (ie, over .05 prescribed legal limits). A breath testing unit will be applied on the day if required.
- Please advise the staff at your course of any medical condition, previous car accidents or bad experiences to assist your tuition on the day. Participants must have a current driver’s licence and provide own vehicle. All drivers will be required to sign a safety indemnity prior to driving activities.
- Only drivers who have a confirmed booking for the course will be permitted to enter the venue. Passengers, children, spectators, partners, onlookers or friends are not permitted into the venue for safety reasons, unless accompanying a learner. If friends or family members are booked and attending the same program and you wish to participate in the practical activities together, please ensure that you arrive at the venue at the same time for group allocation. Postponements and cancellations incur a rebooking fee. Refunds are not available.
- Non attendance will result in forfeiture of the course fee. Replacement drivers are accepted. Driving Events Motorsports reserves the right to include a breath test in the registration process. Drivers showing any positive alcohol reading will be excluded from the program. After successfully completing this program drivers can progress to Level 2 or the High Performance Course (enquire for more details).
Terms And Conditions
- The Level 1 course is suited to drivers of regular passenger vehicles (including four wheel drives and light commercial vehicles)
- All participants must present their current driver's licence (L plate or above) in order to participate
- No particular level of fitness or experience is required
- You must supply your own car for this experience
- Note: Learner drivers must have a Licensed Driver with them during the practical components
- There is no transport provided for this experience - you must provide your own car.
Cancellation Policy
- Change your booking up to 7 days before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
