This kayaking and 4WD adventure is the perfect way to explore Queensland's Double Island and surrounding National Park. Ride through along the Great Beach Drive, paddle across crystal-clear waters, and look out for the abundance of wildlife along the way. Kick off your adventure at the stunning stretch of sand known as Rainbow Beach, nestled between Fraser Island, Great Sandy National Park and the Pacific Ocean. From here, you and your fellow adventurers will ride in a 4WD through Great Sandy National Park to Double Island Point, where you’ll find more turquoise-coloured waters and lush, secluded surrounds (this Point is only accessible by 4WD). Next, you’ll paddle out into the crystal water via kayak and most likely meet some of the locals – some of the several pods of bottle-nosed dolphins, turtles and marine life that call these waters home. If the season’s right, you may even spot whales.

It was ok

We were warned and offered a refund prior to the trip, that it was windy and would be curtailed accordingly but we were interstate and will probably never be back so we participated. I suggest not going on a weekend. Too many beach goers in their 4wheel drives and hooning around on jet skis. All dolphins were gone. The guys were lovely and we met international tourists so still fun.

4wd and kayak tour from rainbow beach

What an amazing experience! The tour guides had a wealth of knowledge and told us lots about 4wd, rainbow beach and double island point. We saw many pods of dolphins and and they came quite close to our kayaks - it was so spectacular. I will be heading back to explore these places further!

Rainbow Beach adventures

Great morning out. My only suggestion is that if the tides permit, that it would be nice to spend 30 minutes to an hour down at DI after the kayak tour as most people on the trip don’t have access to vehicles to get down there at other times. It’s so beautiful it would be nice to just go for a quick swim or chill after the kayaks.
