Go crocodile spotting to see these iconic beasts in the wild as you cruise along Proserpine River, and spend the day exploring the wetlands and wilderness. This full day adventure is the perfect way to discover the Aussie wildlife and landscapes around Airlie Beach. After being picked up from Airlie Beach, you'll be transported through endless fields of sugar cane and pastures to Glen Isla, near Proserpine. You'll arrive at the safari campsite, nestled within a unique tropical environment and home to a huge variety of birds, mammals, reptiles, and marine animals - including a population of over 100 estuarine crocodiles. Cruise for two hours through the mangroves of Proserpine River to spot the saltwater crocs in the wild. You'll also explore freshwater wetland habitat, melaleuca forest, and see Goorganga Plains on a tractor-drawn wagon train. Enjoy a delicious lunch plus some traditional billy tea and damper and you'll be dropped back to Airlie Beach at the end of you adventure.

Seasons

  • The experience provider operates in all weather, except in extreme or dangerous conditions. The majority of the tour activities are conducted under cover. The campsite base has a huge membrane/canopy covering it. The river boat has a large roof, as do the wetland wagon train carriages. Rain ponchos are provided as required to keep guests as comfortable as possible.

Operating Hours

  • Tour departs from most accommodation located in Airlie Beach, Cannonvale or Proserpine
  • Departure time 8.30am
  • Please allow a full day for this experience -  about 6 hours 30 minutes
  • Returns to original departure point at approximately 3pm
  • The tour operates every day except Christmas day
  • Daily departure times may vary in summer due to tidal influence
