K'Gari - Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island, a World Heritage-listed stretch that reaches over 123 kilometres along the southern coast of Queensland. And its clear waters, blue skies and lush rainforest is where you’ll call home for the day.
Your morning kicks off from Hervey Bay’s Marina on a fast catamaran set for K'Gari - Fraser. The Bay is renowned for its local whales so, if the season’s right, be sure to keep your eyes peeled in case they make an appearance. As you enjoy an on-board morning tea, look too for the dolphins, dugongs, turtles and seabirds that call this stretch of coast home. All the while, your expert guide will share with you all the need-to-knows about the area.
You’ll meet the Western edge of the island thanks to a transfer to an amphibious watercraft, designed to drive right up onto the beach ensuring you remain dry and comfortable. You’ll land by Wathumba Creek, where you can explore or take to the water under your own steam in the hope of getting a little closer to those locals.
Look out for Humpback whales. You'll have chance to see these incredible creatures up close off the coast of K'Gari - Fraser Island. Enjoy an Aussie BBQ lunch. You'll dine on board the vessel, and head to either Awinya or Bowarrady Creek. Both are beautiful natural spots and the perfect locations for you to enjoy stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, snorkelling, guided walks, beach activities and other free water sports. Pause for afternoon tea and a tasty antipasti platter before you head back out to see more of this most scenic of spots.
